Horse Lovers Summer Day Camp

Our Horse Lovers Day Camp is designed for horse lovers who want to learn all the basics of horse care and riding and practice time for those who are currently taking riding lessons but need practice time.

 At camp all campers will learn the feed, care and nutrition of horses daily barn chores, they will learn to properly and safely lead and handle a horse, how to determine a good natured horse from a grumpy mean horse, brushing and tacking up, the basics of riding, horse anatomy, and determining a sick or hurt horse,arts and crafts and swimming. All campers bring a bag lunch, bathing suite, sunscreen, bugspray, long pants and riding boots/shoes. Camp is limited to up to 10-12 campers per session and are split into groups of up to 4 to 5. Topics for our advanced campers will include: Showing - (Show grooming, braiding and banding, correct leg wrapping, showing in hand/halter classes, tips on what the judge will be looking for), Tips on what to look for and where to look(and what to avoid) when buying your first horse/pony, Signs of sickness and/or lameness, Natural Horsemanship excersizes (horse whispering) to create lasting bond and partnership with your equine friend, exploring different equine professions and tips on how and where to find the information needed to get started

SAMPLE OF DAILY CAMP SCHEDULE (based on 10-12 campers)

9:00 - 10:00- Feeding horses and other farm animals, barn and farm chores

10:00 - 10:30 - Lecture Changes daily (examples:safe horse handling, reading horses body language, grooming, gaits, ect)

10:30 - 12:00 riding (group 1, group 2 arts & craft and games)

12:00 - 12:15 lunch

12:15 - 1:15 Swimming

1:15 - 2:45 Riding (group 2, group 1 Arts & Crafts and games)

You may bring your own horse to this camp with a neg coggins, current rabies certificate for an additional fifty dollars $50.00 (plus hay and grain) Hours: 9 am - 3:00 pm Early drop off and/or late pick up available ***Please note that camps are limited and fill up quickly.
